THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE Studio Session – Donor Event

‘By being a Donor … you get special opportunities and experiences. You get to meet the performers, the directors, the conductor; and so when it comes to Opening Night, you have an understanding and an engagement with [the production] that you wouldn’t otherwise have.’ Warwick Hemsley OA – WAO Principal Patron

During our preparation for THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, West Australian Opera was delighted to welcome nearly 50 of our wonderful Donors into the Studio on Level 3 of His Majesty’s Theatre for an installment of our Studio Session series: an opportunity to explore the production in depth and connect with other WAO supporters.

Donors were entertained for an hour or so by the Pirate King Ben Mingay, director Stuart Maunder AM and conductor Chris van Tuinen in our working rehearsal space with interesting insights into the production as well as personal stories and passions! Audience members then asked questions and had the chance to shake hands with the stars of the show and have a photo taken.

‘Supporting WA Opera with a donation I think moved me from being an opera-goer to a member of the opera family. Not knowing an awful lot about opera, I suddenly had the opportunity to mix with a group of keen opera-goers and talk to the Principals of the opera company, and learn so much more about what opera involves.’ Steven Heath - WAO Supporter
